Effective 25 September 2026. RetroPrompt is an independent portrait tool operated by the RetroPrompt operator. Contact: yulinggzhang166@gmail.com.

Data we handle

When you use the site, we set a first-party browser cookie containing a random allowance ID. If you sign in with Google, we receive a verified Google account ID and profile name and place them in a signed session cookie. We do not use advertising or session recording. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visits and a first-party usage counter to understand whether our tools work.

Usage measurement

We count page views, studio opens, successful prompt copies, photo selections, generation submissions, browser-received results or error categories, download clicks, and whether the optional format question was seen and answered (still portrait, video template, or exploring). Selecting a photo is not an upload; your photo is sent for processing only when you generate. Events contain only a random event ID, a random tab-session ID, a known page path, a style, an error category, a test flag, a measurement version and server time. New events also include a fixed source category (such as Google, a known blog, another referral or direct/unknown), an allowlisted campaign label, and a compact/wide viewport category measured at the start of the tab session. We derive source categories from known campaign tags or the referring hostname in the browser; arbitrary tag values and full referring addresses are not sent or stored. The category stays with subsequent actions in the same tab session, so we can compare where visits started with whether a useful task was completed. We do not include your photo, prompt, filename, account ID, IP address, full URL or full referrer in these event records. Cloudflare still processes network requests to operate the service.

The random usage session is stored in this tab and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. Event records are deleted after 30 days by a daily cleanup. Test events are marked separately and excluded from audience reports. We store measurement preferences in this browser; clearing browser storage resets them. This usage measurement is independent of the daily image allowance.

You can turn off first-party usage measurement below. We also respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track for these events. This control does not disable essential image processing or Cloudflare aggregate web analytics.

Photos and generated images

Your selected photo is previewed locally in your browser. When you choose Generate and provide consent, the photo is sent through our Cloudflare Worker to APIMart for image processing. RetroPrompt does not intentionally write the uploaded photo, the generated image or the custom prompt to its database, application file storage, logs or analytics. The generated image is returned to your browser for review and download.

Retention

Allowance and attempt metadata in Cloudflare D1 contains a random account identifier, UTC date, status and timestamp. It is used only to enforce the daily limit, and records older than 30 days are deleted by scheduled cleanup. Browser allowance cookies last up to one year or until you clear them; sign-in sessions last up to seven days. APIMart states that generated media is kept for up to three days and processes inputs under its own terms. Do not upload sensitive documents or images you do not have permission to use.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare for hosting, security and the D1 allowance database; APIMart for image upload and generation; and Google only if you choose Google sign-in. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell personal information.

Your choices

You can use the tool without signing in, clear cookies to reset the browser allowance, and contact the operator to ask about access or deletion of allowance metadata. Because image requests are processed transiently, contact us promptly if you need to raise a concern about a specific request.

Changes

We may update this notice as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
